How massage can help prevent injury during exercise

massage prevents injury

Remedial massage is an incredibly important part of preventing injury. This is because massage can easily stop injuries from happening in the first place, rather than attempting to repair the damage after it has happened. Accidents happen all the time, this can be unavoidable, and you can never guarantee an injury won’t occur. There are number of tips and strategies that will help prevent injury at training or at work.

If you are over working or maybe overstretching your muscles, the fibres may simply have worked to their capacity. This can lead to an inflammatory response or sometimes you may get DOMs (delayed onset muscles soreness).

Jobs vary from sitting at a desk or driving a vehicle, for extended periods of time; to manual labour jobs like bending over or picking heavy up objects or other physical activity. If not done correctly we start getting bad posture which leads to injuries such as herniated disc, bulging disc, pulling a muscle and headaches or migraines.

When your body is under a lot of stress it makes it difficult for the body to recover and vulnerable to injury. When our body is properly rested, and looked after, it can perform it’s best when competing, training or at work.

Whether you’re an athlete or returning to training or weekend warrior, we’re all susceptible to injury but they can all be prevented.
